St. Helens Church, Norwich
A five-year deadlock was brought to a successful conclusion with Alan’s solution for stabilising an historically important medieval window in this 13th century church.
The Window, which was in danger of collapse as a result of corroded ironwork embedded within its original stonework, had been held in place by scaffolding for 5 years. English Heritage would not allow disassembly and rebuilding, resulting in an impasse.
Alan devised a barely visible stainless steel armature to anchor the window in place without the need for wholesale structural intervention.
